Decorative kitchen floor
in the staff restaurant of the company Walter AG.
Occupational safety and cleanability play an important role in the kitchen area. A coordinated slip resistance of R11 offers safety in everyday work, even on wet surfaces. The kitchens can be cleaned very easily thanks to the jointless finish with covings at drains and wall connections.
Assignment and requirements
A new floor covering with adapted slip resistance needed to be installed in a company canteen. In this case, it was important to have jointless drain connections and covings at transitions to vertical surfaces to ensure a good cleanability and high hygiene standards. An elastic composite sealing to the substrate was required for crack-bridging.
Particularities and challenges
A coordinated slip-resistance of R11 offers safety in everyday work, even on wet surfaces. The kitchens can be cleaned very easily thanks to the jointless finish with covings at drains and wall connections. An attractive appearance was achieved by scattering with KLB coloured quartz sand CQS.
The solution
System H2 KLB KITCHEN LOW-VOC PU meets all requirements for commercial and industrial kitchens or other wet areas where robust and slip-resistant floors are needed. The binding agents in this system are adjusted to be low-emission. An anti-slip and resilient surface can be created by scattering with coloured quartz sand KLB-Colorquarzsand CQS in combination with a high-gloss sealer which – besides its excellent technical properties – offers a decorative, glossy look that makes both kitchen and food serving area a visual eye-catcher.
PU 420 is used as an elastic composite waterproofing to bridge cracks and to effectively seal the substrate against moisture.
