PU-Concrete flooring in the food industry

Jointless floor coating made for the extreme requirements of the dairy industry.

Assignment and requirements

Every day, numerous lorries pass through the milk delivery station of Milchwerke Schwaben eG in Neu-Ulm, GERMANY. Around 1.2 million litres of milk are delivered here each year – a true endurance test for any floor surface.

Particularities and challenges

The truck unloading area is exposed to constant stress: heavy goods traffic, moisture, road dirt and de-icing salt in winter.

Added to this are chemical impacts from lactic acid and mechanical stress from hoses with metal flanges that regularly strike the floor. Under these conditions, cracks, spalling and rapid wear of conventional floors are almost unavoidable.

The solution

To ensure lasting resistance, the I2 CHEMORESIN PU-BETON Standard system was applied. The PU-BETON 4009 mortar coating provides a robust, slip-resistant and hygienic surface that has reliably withstood wear since its installation in 2016.

The joint solution was also developed with sustainability in mind: the specially formulated KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 465 was used for construction and expansion joints. Even after years of heavy traffic and chemical exposure, the joint compound remains fully functional.
