High-quality floor for commercial kitchens
Fulfilling both hygienic and aesthetic requirements in the bakery and pastry shop Café Lieb.
Assignment and requirements
The bakehouse of a pastry shop or bakery is subject to intensive daily use: besides regular cleaning, the floor comes into contact with a wide range of liquids and other food ingredients such as flour or fat. It must also withstand the mechanical stresses of moving heavy machinery and falling kitchen or baking utensils.
Particularities and challenges
Daily cooking and cleaning processes therefore require a highly robust and durable flooring. To ensure occupational safety, it must be anti-slip to minimise the risk of accidents due to moisture on the floor, for example from spilled liquids.
In addition, coverings in food areas must be resistant to cleaning agents and disinfectants, and withstand thermal fluctuations or extreme temperatures.
The solution
A static crack-bridging intermediate layer KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 420 was used to seal the substrate against penetrating liquids. The following scattering layer with KLB coloured sand CQS-4602 results in an non-slip RX covering of grade R10, which offers both slip resistance and an appealing look.
The glossy clear resin KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 484 was used to achieve a particularly hard-wearing and abrasion-resistant surface. The low-VOC sealant ensures non-yellowing and ease of cleaning to comply with the high demands of a commercial kitchen.
