With our FLOOR SEALER range, you can renovate your old floor instead of replacing it completely. This economical solution saves time and money by sealing the old surface without having to remove it, and gives it a new modern, visually appealing and decorative look.

We recommend using FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair to prepare, level and fill smaller defects. The fast-curing, paste-like compound is suitable for repairing and restoring your floor before applying the coloured FLOOR SEALER top sealers.

What are elastic floor coverings?

Resilient floorings include PVC (polyvinyl chloride), linoleum and rubber. Their durability and longevity mean they can be used in residential and commercial areas as an alternative to tiles, stone or wood floors. They are a popular option for surfaces with heavy foot traffic and frequent cleaning cycles, such as in schools, kindergartens, hospitals, doctor’s surgeries or gyms.

PVC, also known as vinyl, is a synthetic floor covering that is given elastic properties by the addition of plasticisers. Linoleum is one of the more natural products among such resilient floors, as it is made from a high proportion of renewable raw materials. These natural ingredients make it very flexible and robust. Caoutchouc floor coverings (rubber, rubber stud or elastomer) consist mainly of synthetic rubber or, more rarely, natural rubber. These are extracted from natural deposits, pressed with minerals or other components and vulcanised with heat under high pressure. Because of their high durability and impact resistance, these coverings can also be used as studded rubber flooring on industrial surfaces.

Over the course of a long service life, inadequate cleaning or maintenance as well as high traffic often lead to unsightly, worn surfaces despite their robust properties. Prior to a renovation with our FLOOR SEALER products, the subfloors can be prepared accordingly with our repair kit, FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair, in case of deeper pressure marks and chipping.

 

How does FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair work?

FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair is a rapid-setting 2-component compound for renovating and repairing small-area damages or defects. These include chipping, scratches, indentations and tear-outs, that are found on firmly bonded elastic floor coverings.

Using FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair, these irregularities are reconstructed before the subsequent coating with our FLOOR SEALER products, thus restoring an even subfloor. In the same way, the material can be used to reprofile joints after renewal of weakly adhering surface covering parts prior to reworking with FLOOR SEALER 200 Color.

Preparing the defect

In the first step, the cleaned and load-bearing substrate is freed from any non-adhesive parts around the defect or indentation. These are then prepared for filling by carefully flattening any protruding bulges or elevations, which is finished by grinding.

Filling

Components A and B of FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair are mixed homogeneously in smaller quantities before application. The surface defect is then in excess using a squeegee (e.g. Japanese or smoothing trowel). The easy-to-apply consistency of FLOOR SEALER 72 Repair makes it pleasant and uncomplicated to work with.

Flat grinding

 After approx. 15 – 20 minutes of complete hardening, the excess material is grinded to the level of the top layer using an eccentric grinder with sandpaper grit 120. The surface is then carefully freed from dust.

Reworking

The entire surface is now finished with FLOOR SEALER 200 Color. Optionally, scattering with partiColor® chips is possible – these can be individually selected in colour or size – as well as the application of the colourless top sealer FLOOR SEALER 100 Transparent. FLOOR SEALER 300 Antistatic can be used for electrically conductive floor coverings.
