ESD flooring based on DIN EN 61340-5-1
Production facilities of electronics company Zander.
Assignment and requirements
Zander is a manufacturer in the field of industrial electronics. As part of the renovation of their production hall, it was important for the old, worn-out flooring to be able to reliably control and dissipate static charges.
The reason for this lies in the sensitive components that are manufactured and which are highly susceptible to damage in the event of such unwanted electrostatic discharges.
Particularities and challenges
The existing uneven concrete floor required extensive substrate preparation. For this purpose, several levelling coats were applied.
In addition to ESD conductivity in accordance with DIN EN 61340-5-1, the coating also had to meet optical requirements, be easy-to-clean and impervious to liquids, as well as resistant to chemical or mechanical loads.
The solution
Different from the build-up of our F2 KLB CONDUCTIVE EP ESD Standard system, the barrier primer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 52 Spezialgrund was applied against rising moisture. The subsequent filling coats create a uniform substrate with a pore-closed surface.
The KLB copper tape for building earthing in combination with the cross-conductible base coat KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 799 Ableitgrund contribute to dissipating unwanted electrostatic charges, creating homogeneous conductivity over the entire surface and thus a safe working environment.
