Assignment and requirements

With up to 20 Bundesliga home games per year and numerous major events at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, it is essential that all surfaces remain consistently functional, whether in front of the VIP lounges, in the stands or along the main walkways. Such intensive use demands a particularly durable and resilient floor covering.

Particularities and challenges

In a modern stadium environment like the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, outdoor flooring must be capable of withstanding heavy loads. The applied surface protection system ensures resistance to wear and tear caused by high foot traffic, exposure to rain, and spilled beverages.

In addition, the anti-slip coating with slip resistance class R11 ensures maximum safety. Whether walking on the stands or climbing stairs, visitors always have secure footing – even in wet conditions.

The solution

For this project, the K3 surface protection system was used – a solution precisely tailored to the stadium’s specific requirements. To achieve exceptional UV stability and weather resistance, the standard system build-up was modified by using the KLB-SYSTEM POLYUREA PU 5580 top sealer. Beneath, an elastic wear and sealing layer based on polyurethane provides both robustness and slip resistance.

Including the primer, this creates a multi-layered, durable floor system capable of withstanding long-term high stress from visitor traffic, weather, and intensive use.
