Unique floor coating in a café / confectionery using a special wiping technique

Assignment and requirements

From the very beginning, a high aesthetic standard and a good quality of processing were the focus of the Printenhaus Café Portz project. Primarily for the sale of food, a floor must be quick and easy to clean or keep hygienic.

Particularities and challanges

Due to these requirements, a distinctive wiping technique was used to make the floor an eye-catcher. The decorative design is shown to its best advantage in two light and dark grey tones. In addition to a jointless installation for good cleanability, the floor should be predestined for recreation rooms and not show any tendency to yellowing despite permanent UV exposure.

The solution

With System G7 KLB DECOR LOW-VOC PU Light Sealed, a high-quality 2-component coating based on polyurethane resin was applied in two colour shades using the wiping technique. The striking, attractive floor design harmonises with the simple furnishings such as the sales counter or seating, and creates a holistic room image.

In addition, the installed floor is certified according to “Indoor Air Comfort” and fulfils the emission criteria for a building certification according to DGNB, LEED or BREEAM. With the given properties, it is possible to combine a usable or lounge area for guests with an appealing product presentation.
