New flooring in the architectural office HKR+ Partner
A harmonious design concept for a pleasant working atmosphere.
Assignment and requirements
Choosing the right office environment is important for the well-being and productivity of employees. For this reason, holistic room concepts should be implemented that promote both the functional characteristics and the physical comfort of the occupants.
At HKR+ Partner Architects, the old flooring needed to be renewed. In doing so, it was necessary to take account of health and sustainability requirements. The choice was therefore made for a flooring system with low-VOC coating materials, which helps create a pleasant indoor climate.
Particularities and challenges
The new coating was supposed to withstand the stresses and strains of everyday office use and be durable. The flooring had to be in a subtle colour tone that would complement the existing carpets and the room concept.
The challenge was to find a solution that was visually appealing and perfectly integrated into the overall design, while meeting high standards of ambient air quality. These aspects contribute to a pleasant working environment.
The solution
System G7 KLB DECOR LOW-VOC PU Light Sealed meets exactly these requirements. The water-based epoxy resin emulsion primer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 727 E was applied as a dust-binding intermediate layer with its good adhesion to the existing and prepared substrate.
This was followed by an elastic PU coating using KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 410 and a silk-matt sealer in a colour of approx. RAL 7044 Silk Grey. The latter is largely light-stable and resistant to staining. The matt surface also helps to reduce light reflection and create a balanced, harmonious atmosphere in the office. All products used are low-emission.
