Assignment and requirements

For an exhibition space at a car dealership, the task was to put the vehicles in the spotlight and to visually separate the presentation area from the customer aisles. In order to trigger a wow effect among the visitors, the floor needed to appear high-quality and exclusive. This should underline the brand message of the cars on display.

Particularities and challenges

Since the surfaces are used for different purposes, they had to contrast with each other in terms of colour; part of them was sealed with a matt finish.

At the same time, the flooring should offer a pleasant walking comfort. Especially for frequently accessed areas, a durable and environmentally friendly indoor floor covering had to be used.

The solution

All products used are low-VOC and thus provide a pleasant room climate. The primer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 57 is openly scattered with quartz sand KLB-Quarzsand 0.3/0.8 mm. As the subsequent layer of KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 172 and decorative pebbles already has a high degree of hardness, the surface is sufficiently resilient and abrasion-proof.

Walkways and presentation areas were set apart from each other with different coloured stones and stainless steel rails placed as a visual demarcation. In addition, a more distinct 3D look of the floor was created by not closing the pores. The additional matt sealing layer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 705 E on the light grey areas makes the floor covering more varied in its superficial look. To protect against plasticiser release and to preserve the flooring’s beautiful appearance in the long term, car tyres must be underlaid with sheets.
