Stone carpet for indoor use

High-quality stone carpet flooring in a private residence: hobby room and garage

Assignment and requirements

A stone carpet was to be installed in the hobby room located in the basement of this exclusive residence. This “man cave,” featuring a bar and billiards area, was designed as a high-end lounge, complemented by an adjacent luxury garage with a prestigious character.

The focus of the design was on an interior stone carpet that visually connects both zones while simultaneously meeting the different functional requirements.

Particularities and challenges

The seamless stone carpet was intended to serve as a design element in the hobby room while also withstanding the increased mechanical and chemical stresses in the garage.

While the living room required a low-emission, easy-to-clean surface, the flooring in the garage also needed to be protected against moisture, tire abrasion, and chemical exposure — without compromising on appearance.

The Solution

In the hobby room, the focus was on a high-quality, inviting surface: easy to maintain, closed-pore, and pleasant to use. In the garage, however, the surface was specifically designed to withstand higher mechanical and chemical stress through its system build-up, without disrupting the unified design aesthetic.

The coordinated design of the surfaces resulted in a stone carpet in the living area that combines design sophistication with practicality for everyday use and remains durable even in highly stressed zones.
