Low-VOC comfort floor in a child daycare centre
Floor coating with an elastic intermediate layer for particularly high comfort.
Assignment and requirements
A good room climate with low emissions, noise reduction and a certain walking comfort – these were the requirements for the new flooring in a daycare centre for children in Herrenberg, Germany. Planning took into account all areas of the nursery, from the entrance to the recreation, play and dining rooms, as well as the sanitary facilities and kitchen.
Particularities and challenges
A sound-absorbing and noise-reducing chips scattered covering had been installed here. It is comfortable to walk on and minimises the risk of injury to children at play thanks to its elastic intermediate layer. The anti-slip properties of the R10 coating also contribute to reducing the slip hazard.
Decorative partiColor® chips in the colours stone grey, black and white give the flooring a lively appearance and create visual accents. The system is suitable for light to medium loads.
The solution
The low emission values of all products in our G9 KLB DECOR LOW-VOC PU Silent Sealed system help to improve ambient air quality by reducing volatile organic compounds. As the system meets particularly high requirements in this context, Eurofins has awarded it the “Indoor Air Comfort Gold” label.
The crack-bridging intermediate layer has an acoustic and sound insulation effect. Especially in busy and dynamic leisure or play areas, this significantly reduces noise levels and creates a more pleasant environment.
The floor system is UV-resistant and remains colour-stable over the long term. The transparent sealer applied on top of the chips scattered covering provides a slightly non-slip, matt surface.
