Comfortable flooring in a sports orthopaedic surgery
Low-emission, impact sound insulating and with a pleasant indoor climate.
Assignment and requirements
For the floor in an orthopaedic sports practice, an elastic coating was needed that would provide more walking comfort for both staff and patients. For use in the interior, it was also important that the floor be low-emission.
Seamlessness was considered a prerequisite for an easy-to-clean and thus permanently hygienic surface.
Particularities and challenges
Polyurethane resins are able to fulfil such requirements. They offer increased elasticity and, in a special product combination, not only a soft feeling when being walked on, but also impact sound-absorbing features that create a very good climate in all rooms. Polyurethane sealers are mainly used in areas that place high visual demands on the floor coating.
The solution
System G8 KLB DECOR LOW-VOC PU Comfort Silent was chosen for this project. The multi-layer build-up with polyurethane coatings and an elastic intermediate layer KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 430 Silent achieves an impact sound insulation of up to 11 dB. The flooring is particularly gentle to the joints and stays pleasantly quiet even under heavy foot traffic. All products used are low-emission and therefore ideally suited for indoor use.
The high-quality floor system is rounded off by the attractive matt sealer KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 806 E, which has very good cleaning properties and thus allows to keep the floor permanently hygienic. The sealer is light-stable and does not yellow when exposed to sunlight. As PU 806 E – R10, PU 806 E is also available with a slight slip-resistance, or in a hygienic version with preventive protection against bacterial infestation as PU 806 E Clean.
