A comparison of KLB surface protection systems.

Surface protection is a crucial issue in multi-storey or underground car parks, but also on all other traffic surfaces that are accessible to vehicles. How can you extend the useful life of car park buildings and protect them from the many external influences? That’s where a surface protection system comes in. But not all surface protection is the same. In this article, we present different surface protection coating solutions and go into their special features, e.g. the characteristics of an OS 11 coating compared with an OS 8 system.

What all surface protection systems have in common is that they offer reliable, permanent protection of the underlying building fabric against any chemical or mechanical effects, are impervious to liquids and highly resistant to abrasion or wear. To ensure pedestrian and traffic safety, the systems are available in various slip resistance grades. All coatings – whether OS 8, OS 11, OS 14 and OS 5b – are tested and certified in accordance with the current requirements of the TR maintenance directive.

OS 8 coatings

Our OS 8 coatings are ideal for application in indoor multi-storey car parks and underground garages, wherever a reliable protection of the underlying building structure is required against the penetration of moisture or chemical substances as well as a high wear resistance. Depending on the project, you can choose between a rigid or a flexibilised and statically crack-bridging OS 8 coating. Typical areas of application are roadways or spindles and ramps that are exposed to oscillations and vibrations.

OS 11 coatings

KLB’s surface protection systems based on OS 11 are flexible and offer a dynamic crack-bridging capability even at low temperatures. With their comprehensive performance spectrum, they are perfectly suited for heavily frequented, commercial parking buildings at risk of crack formation, that have to meet the highest demands. For one part, areas of application are weather-exposed open decks with sunlight or also bridge caps and paths, but also interior intermediate decks and roofed top decks.

OS 14 coating

With its higher layer thickness and increased dynamic crack-bridging capability, the OS 14 coating offers a very good protection against liquids or chemical substances – both indoors and outdoors. The elasticity and highly flexible floating layer makes it very durable and therefore suitable for concrete components, that are at risk of cracking, also in weather-exposed areas.

OS 5b coating

Our OS 5b Wall coating is suitable for wall surfaces in car parks or underground garages and offers excellent protection against moisture or corrosion. The system is characterised by its polymer-modified composition.
