Flexibilised surface protection systems for car parks

tested as OS 8 system with static crack-bridging of class A3 according to DIN EN 1062-7 (-10 °C).

System K6 KLB PARKING PU OS 8 Flex and System K7 KLB PARKING EP OS 8 Flex are surface protection coatings for use in indoor car park or underground parking garages. These areas place special demands on a flooring, particularly when it comes to safety and protection as well as mechanical load-bearing capacity:

High road safety:

Our surface protection systems meet the highest safety standards for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Due to the non-slip properties, wet surfaces do not pose a slip hazard for people and provide the right starting and braking point for vehicles.

Protecting the building fabric:

Chemicals from vehicles such as road salt, engine oil or battery acid can penetrate structural components of the building and permanently damage it. A surface protection coating prevents such penetration of liquids or chemicals.

Tests and quality standards:

Both in-house and external lab tests of our OS systems by testing institutes control their quality in accordance with current rules and regulations.

That’s convincing!

  • slip-resistant
  • abrasion-resistant
  • slightly non-slip surface
  • impermeable to liquids
  • reduction of water absorption
  • resistant to chemical substances
  • improvement of frost and de-icing salt resistance
  • static crack-bridging
  • water vapour-permeable (only System K7)

What are the systems’ differences?

Both build-ups differ only in their wearing coat: System K6 KLB PARKING PU OS 8 Flex contains a polyurethane floating layer, while System K7 KLB PARKING EP OS 8 Flex an epoxy-based, flexibilised intermediate layer with water vapour-permeable properties, which allows it to be used on floor slabs in contact with the ground.

What are typical areas of application?

As static crack-bridging surface protection systems, the coatings are used for mechanically loaded surfaces in interior areas where a certain flexibility is required. These can be, for example, adjacent floor slabs or heavily frequented ramps, slopes, descents or driveways. You can find OS systems for other applications in below parking brochure:

Which test certificates are available?

  • System test according to DIN EN 1504-2 in consideration of DIN V 18026, “Surface protection systems for concrete from products according to DIN EN 1504-2” and in accordance with the DAfStb guidelines “Protection and maintenance of concrete components” as well as the TR maintenance directive
  • Static crack-bridging of class A3 (according to DIN EN 1062-7) at -10 °C / 14 °F: 0.5 mm (System K6) and 0.6 mm (System K7)
  • Declaration of performance in accordance with Annex III to Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011
  • Declaration of product conformity with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

The system build-ups of our surface protection systems OS 8 Flex:

The combination of flexibilised coating and static crack bridging provides optimal protection for the flooring in car parks. The flexibility of the coating allows it to absorb movements and loads of the subfloor without causing cracks or damage, which is complemented by its static crack-bridging capability. Existing cracks in the substrate can thus be bridged without continuation in the OS system. This not only contributes to the aesthetic quality, but also ensures an increased service life of the covering and reduces maintenance costs.
