Decorative mortar covering
in the real estate agency Immo Pické.
Assignment and requirements
When converting a former residential building into an estate agent’s office, functionality was to be combined with an appealing look. The new flooring should be just as suitable for office work as for client visits – i.e. be hard-wearing – and match the modern furnishings.
Particularities and challenges
The floor had to remain colour-stable despite high incidence of light from the outside, so it was important to use yellowing-resistant coating materials. Light-coloured quartz sand with its mineral look helps to create an inviting impression for customers entering the office.
The high visitor frequency and daily use as an office required a robust, resilient and easy-to-clean covering with a surface that is not very susceptible to stains.
The solution
For these requirements, the primer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 5520 was used and scattered. A mortar coat consisting of a light sand mixture and KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 158 as binder was applied in a thickness of approx. 5 – 6 mm. The two-layer sealer KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 172 and an additional polyurethane matt sealer serve as a light-stable protective layer in this build-up.
Several walls in the office were also coated with KLB-SYSTEM POLYURETHAN PU 806 – Wall, which contributes to an effective flowing transition between floor and walls.
The Project
