Assignment and requirements

For the reception and office area of a car body shop, a floor covering was needed that matched the overall concept. The floor had to harmonise with the modern look of the red surfaces as well as with the decorative and functional wooden elements such as the furniture. In addition to this, the coating needed to be particularly low-emission as offices are subject to special requirements for staff lounges.

Particularities and challenges

The floor in the entrance should be less sensitive to dirt. Furthermore, the design concept called for a surface in very muted colours to show off the stylish furnishings to their best advantage. Large window fronts also made it necessary for the floor coating to remain light-stable and not yellow despite exposure to sunlight. With the offices and reception being in the same room, it was important to choose a low-emission floor covering.

The solution

A special application technique – trowelling in several work steps – created a visually exciting surface. In combination with the incorporated structure, the applied matt sealer offers good protection against soiling, even with heavy public traffic. Since this floor coating has low emission properties, it was also possible to coat the office rooms in the same look. The result is a harmonious and modern overall appearance.
