Jointless kitchen floor with composite waterproofing

Hygienic kitchen floor coating at MHP Arena in Stuttgart.

Assignment and requirements

In the commercial kitchen of VfB Stuttgart soccer club, a hygienic, durable and functional commercial kitchen floor covering was installed over an area of approx. 150 m². The jointless surface needed to be easy to clean and meet all required hygiene standards.

Particularities and challenges

The flooring system used here provides all the advantages necessary to meet the specific demands of a kitchen floor in this environment. Thanks to the slip resistance of the coloured quartz sand coating, occupational safety is ensured for kitchen staff, even in areas exposed to moisture.

Special attention was also given to the installation of the floor construction to protect the underlying building fabric.

The solution

The tested composite waterproofings CW 510/CW 512 in the H2 kitchen floor system were used to create a floor structure that complies with DIN 18534. They have an ETA in accordance with EAD 030352-00-0503 (replacing ETAG 022) and a general building authority test certificate (AbP) based on PG AIV-N – Waterproofing for indoor applications – in combination with a coating used as the wearing surface.

With the stain-resistant top sealer, even heavily used areas can be cleaned easily without damaging the surface. This keeps the floor hygienic, resilient and visually appealing in the long term, also under intensive use in commercial kitchens.
