The best foundation for success is experience
Outstanding system expertise and 30 years of industry know-how have made KLB Kötztal GmbH the first port of call for commercial and industrial flooring.
Expertise is part of our heritage – the history of KLB Kötztal GmbH
From a small family-run company to one of the leading suppliers of coating materials and reactive resins for industrial floors: throughout our 30-year history, we are particularly proud of the level of confidence our customers across all sectors show in us. This is surely a result of our particular USP: perfectly compatible and proven, yet customised system solutions.
Medium-sized and down-to-earth – these are our values
Since KLB Kötztal GmbH was founded in 1995, it has matured from an owner-operated family business to a top-performing, medium-sized, internationally operating company. Despite this growth, our mission statement continues to be shaped by our traditional and commercial values. Many of our employees reward this orientation with their long-standing loyalty. They appreciate our lived values, our flat hierarchies and the positive working environment.

Sustainability is important to us – reducing hazardous substances and emissions
Environmental protection and sustainable management are key factors in our operational processes and in the development of products. Our in-house research and development enables us to continuously improve such, while also focusing on occupational health and safety. Our decision to dispense with solvents and solvent-based constituents allows us to offer a comprehensive range of low-emission, VOC-certified products, which are suitable for recreation rooms, thereby complying with legal requirements. The products also meet the criteria for sustainable and resource-efficient construction. Our low-emission products are regularly audited and certified by Eurofins Consumer Produkt Testing GmbH – a proof to our capabilities. Our flooring systems are special: they have to be durable and able to cope with any requirement.
Our success in facts and figures
Our modern, high-capacity production and manufacturing facilities with their associated savings potential are the foundation for us to operate economically efficient. The heat recovery plant on our premises ensures CO2-saving production processes and the sustainable generation of heat. We produce a proportion of our electricity ourselves using a large solar installation, adding up to 105,500 kWh of savings. In addition, a groundwater heat pump helps us save further energy resources for heating or cooling in our administrative building and manufacturing facilities. Our waste separation system and recycling of 1,500 IBCs every year has saved 60 tonnes of steel, 30 tonnes of plastic and 152.4 tonnes of CO2 thanks to environmentally friendly reprocessing.
Regionally rooted
Success is most rewarding when it creates a sense of belonging – just like in sport. As a company full of sports enthusiasts, we support a variety of regional clubs and sporting activities. That’s why the stadium of our local team, “Eintracht Autenried”, carries our name: KLB Kötztal Stadium.
Actively involved – our passion for sport
Our KLB company teams also regularly take part in regional running events and other sporting competitions. But our commitment goes beyond sports: cultural projects are also close to our hearts. We support regional music and cultural events that strengthen the sense of community in our home region.

The best success is shared success – our social engagement
We not only look at the big picture when it comes to innovative products, but also when it comes to taking responsibility for society.
To mark our 30th anniversary in 2025, together with our customers and guests – and with our company doubling the donation amount – we were able to hand over a total of €18,000 to the St. Nikolaus Children’s Hospice in Bad Grönenbach, the Comboni Missionaries and the Rotary Club Günzburg. Each of these organisations carries out valuable work in very different ways.
Learn moreWe are proud to support the following organisations:
- The St. Nikolaus Children’s Hospice in Bad Grönenbach, which supports families with terminally ill children. It provides a space for quality time, relief from the demands of daily life, and professional guidance in challenging times.
- The Comboni Missionaries, who carry out social, pastoral and medical projects across the globe. A key focus is on supporting a hospital in Uganda that delivers essential healthcare services in an underserved region.
- The Rotary Club Günzburg, which delivers fast, targeted aid during crises and supports regional initiatives – with a particular focus on education, social equity and community welfare.

Company history
What started as a bold move by Erwin and Artur Kehrle has, 30 years later, grown into a successful, family-run company with deep roots and a clear vision.
The early years were marked by challenges, hard work, and perseverance. However, thanks to creative ideas, technical expertise, and the trust of our partners, KLB has evolved into what it is today: an innovative company and one of the industry’s leading manufacturers.
1995
On 11 January 1995, KLB Kötztal Lacke + Beschichtungen GmbH was founded by brothers Erwin and Artur Kehrle.
Initially based in Pfaffenhofen/Roth, the company began developing its own system solutions, starting with EP 50, a solvent-free 2-component epoxy resin primer.

1999
A devastating fire destroys the production hall at the original location – a serious setback in the company’s young history.
In the same year, KLB relocated to its current location in Ichenhausen. Reconstruction efforts began quickly in a former furniture store complex.
1999
During this period, the infrastructure in Ichenhausen expanded rapidly. Numerous extensions were competed by 2006, including the development of EX area production facilities, the expansion of warehouses and a larger office, the establishment of the first in-house laboratory, the construction of several new halls with automated epoxy resin production, and the completion of surrounding outdoor areas.
At the same time, the product portfolio was broadened to include new epoxy resin systems as well as conductive and WHG-compliant coatings.

2003
The first KLB customer seminars were held, marking the beginning of a hands-on training programme that provides applicators, architects and planners with valuable practical knowledge and application expertise.
2006
A two-storey laboratory was built to support research, development and quality assurance, resolving the issue of limited lab space and opening up new possibilities. A few years later, the building was extended with an additional floor.

2007
KLB was planning significant investments in the expansion of its infrastructure and plant technology. In addition to new buildings, a filling line and an order picking area connected to an automatic warehouse were built in the halls within five years. Production planning, storage areas and order processing was fully digitised.
To further optimise production workflows, the epoxy resin plant was expanded and equipped with additional machinery.
One of the key product highlights back in 2007: CHEMORESIN PU-BETON, a hot water-resistant coating specifically designed for use in the food industry (food, beverage and meat processing).
2013
As part of the extensive construction work, which at the time doubled the production area, a dry mixing tower was built to manufacture high-quality dry mortar formulations. This tower is the most striking building on the KLB premises and has since become a landmark for our company.
In addition, KLB was launching several low-emission certified coating systems. These products meet the growing requirements for health protection and are suitable for use in recreation rooms – a new standard that has now been incorporated into the model building code.

2016
Construction began in 2012, and four years later, the new training and administration building was completed and officially opened.
Various decorative KLB systems were used in the interior – both as practical applications and as a live showroom.
2016
Additionally, a new service building was constructed along Günztalstraße featuring generous social areas to accommodate order preparation, maintenance and our in-house print shop.

2019
The company completed a new production building located between the former operations office and the high-bay warehouse.
At its core is an automated production plant for manufacturing epoxy resin and polyurethane coatings.
2021
Patrick Kehrle and Dr Julian Kehrle moved from their previous roles as executive assistants to become managing directors, joining Artur Kehrle in the management team. Tobias Schorer was later apppointed to the board as well.

2025
The construction and commissioning of a new two-storey logistics centre and order picking hall, complete with office wing, mark another key step in the company’s development. The foundations are laid for continued growth.
2025
In the same year, leadership of the company was officially handed over from the founders Erwin and Artur Kehrle to the next generation: Dr Julian Kehrle, Patrick Kehrle and Tobias Schorer.
KLB proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary with an evening gala, an open house and a charity fundraising campaign. A total of EUR 18,000 was donated to various charitable organisations – a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and social responsibility.
More impressions from the anniversary celebrations and the open house can be found in the photo gallery.
